Danny Willard, 67, passed away Dec. 13, 2014, in Austin, Texas. He was born Feb. 18, 1947, in Detroit to Charles and Helen Willard and grew up in Missouri and Arizona.
Danny and Karol spent their honeymoon here in the Highland Lakes in 1968, and it was love at first sight. Eleven years later, they made it their permanent home.
He was a contractor for 40 years, leaving his mark in the area in the form of beautiful homes he built.
He was a magnet for children and loved to fish. Danny and Karol owned and operated Lakeside Grocery for the last 21½ years.
Danny is survived by his wife, Karol Willard of Burnet; daughter, Kandi Ray and husband Lance of Bertram; son, Chris Willard and wife Carrie of Austin; grandchildren, Sunni Craytor, Matt Parker, Austin Parker, Talon Willard and Colton Willard; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Craytor and Tatum Craytor; sister, Donna Clough; and brother David Willard of Buchanan Dam.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gary Willard.
A funeral service was Dec. 16 at Buchanan West Baptist Church with interment following at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.
