Our beloved brother Martin Garcia Jr., 60, of Burnet was called by our Heavenly Father on Jan. 3, 2015.
Our brother Martin was a loving, fun, hardworking and crazy kind of person. His jobs included custodian, landscaper, cook and working with cement. His TV schedule was like clockwork: Monday and Friday nights were for WWE wrestling; Saturday was Texas Longhorns football and Sunday was Dallas Cowboys football. Although he did not go to the Burnet football games, he knew sisters Gloria and Suzanne were going to be there and would give him play-by-play details.
We would like to thank the Eucharist ministers from Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, the staff at Oaks Nursing Center in Burnet, the staff at Seton Highland Lakes Hospital in Burnet and especially the nurses in ICU at Seton-Williamson Medical Center in Round Rock for their dedicated services to and care of our brother.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin H. Garcia; mother, Lucille Bernal Flores Garcia; brothers Joe Salazar Sr., Santos Flores Sr., Henry Flores and Emilio Flores; sister Lucille Ester Rodriguez; and nephew James Flores Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Ramirez of Austin; brothers Frank Salazar of Lampasas, Timotheo Flores of Austin, James Candelario Flores Sr. (Juanita) of Dale, Tommy Flores (Victoria) of Granite Shoals, Tino Flores of Burnet and Martin Garcia (Marianna) of Idaho; sisters Janie Chavira (Rick) of Austin, Suzanne Loftis (Tommy), Gloria Flores and Nancy Szalkowski, all of Burnet, Guadalupe Lopez (Richard) and Sara Sanchez (Jesus), both of Idaho, and Hermelinda Martinez (Ray) of Burnet; numerous loving nieces and nephews; aunts Thomasa Castillo and Maggie Aleman, both of Burnet, and Anita Rodriguez of California; and uncle Mike Bernal of Burnet.
A recitation of the Holy Rosary is 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. A funeral service is 10 a.m. Jan. 9 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Burnet.
