With the serenity and grace that defined her spirit, Louise Maddox passed peacefully from this life, surrounded by those who loved her, Nov. 8, 2014. She had recently returned from a final trip to her beloved Texas coast and was content to leave us.

A true daughter of the Texas Hill Country, Louise was born near the shores of Lake Travis and grew up in the Oak Hill area of Southwest Travis County. Upon raising their four children, she and her husband, Jack, packed up everything, including the house, and returned to settle in the Pedernales/Lake Travis area of Spicewood. And it was there she lived for the rest of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; eldest son, Bill; her parents; and seven brothers and sisters.

She leaves behind her daughter Brenda Morris and son-in-law Griff of Marble Falls; daughter Becky Maddox and partner Deb Sessums of Houston; and son David Maddox and daughter-in-law Rosemary of Spicewood; as well as 15-year companion Tom Beard. She also leaves six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was Nov. 11 in the face of a Texas cold front, which made the ceremony shorter and sweeter than usual. That would have been fine with Louise, and she would have thought it an appropriate way to say “adios.”

We’ll miss her a lot, but we’ll see her again. Good night, Mom. We love you.

Arrangements by Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373. Go to www.clementswilcoxfuneralhome.com to offer condolences.
