Ersie J. Few, 88, of Corinth, Texas, formerly of Buchanan Dam, went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 23, 2014. She was born to Elgin and Sela (Christian) Adams on April 2, 1926, in Iaeger, West Virginia.
She belonged to Chapel of the Hills Baptist Church and was a lifetime member since 1986 of Highland Lakes Chapter 198 of the Disabled American Veterans in Kingsland.
Ersie was married for 46 years to Roy Odell Few, who passed away in 1992. She loved spending time with her family, fishing and playing cards and board games. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing for her family and friends. She enjoyed making memorial flower arrangements.
Ersie worked hard and took pride in her local DAV chapter benefiting the disabled American veterans in her community.
Mrs. Few is survived by her daughters Lynda Cantrell and husband Kenneth of Greenwood, Arkansas, Karen Lund and husband Ted of Garibaldi, Oregon, Debbie Cooper of Malakoff and Marilyn Hale and husband Jerry of Corinth; son, Roy Few of Log Lane Village, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Eleanore McKinney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Odell Few; daughter Dreama Gaye Turpin; and grandsons Christopher and Michael Bevis.
Serving as pallbearers were David Bostic Jr., Jeremy Hale, Coby Bostic, Brennen Washington, Trey Washington and Jarred Hale. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Cantrell and Jared Hale.
A funeral service was Oct. 27 at Putnam Funeral Home, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008. Burial followed at Bluffton Cemetery in Bluffton with the Rev. Steve Leftwich officiating.
