Jean Kaspar, 83, of Kingsland, Texas, died Oct. 23 2014. She was born to Cheatham L. and Joyce (Pullin) Holmes on Oct. 19, 1931, in Three Rivers, Texas.
She married Edward Kaspar on Oct. 9, 1946, in Oakville, Texas. They moved to the Highland Lakes in 1968 from Houston, and she was the business manager for her husband’s construction business. When she and Ed were not traveling in their RV or playing in the 42 Club, they square danced with the Country Cuzzins and cherished the many friendships they made.
Jean was a very active member of Kingsland Community Church for more than 42 years. She served as a greeter, a Sunday school teacher, a youth leader, president of the Woman’s Christian Organization and on numerous committees of the church. She was also a stellar accumulator for the annual church rummage sales.
As a labor of love, she hosted countless family gatherings at her home, where she cooked and baked endlessly for her family. She always considered each child’s, grandchild’s and great-grandchildren’s likes and dislikes to make sure each and every one had something special. Jean also baked goodies for her close friends throughout the years, whether it be for a special occasion or just because she wanted to do something nice. She will also be remembered for the many beautiful quilts she made for all her family.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Kaspar. She is survived by four children, Dennis Kaspar and wife Sheree of Kingsland, Susan Weitner and husband Bob of Burnet, Tracy Kaspar and wife Cheryl of Spicewood and Gerald Kaspar and wife Robin of Kingsland; sister, Patty Tackitt Ray of Floresville; grandchildren, Ken Wittenkiend III, Matthew Wittekiend, Dr. Kris Kaspar, Tiffany Kaspar Smith, Brittney Kaspar, Nikolette Kaspar and Noelle Kaspar; great-grandchildren, Mattison, Mason, Zoe, Tyler and Emily Wittekiend, Samuel and Evan Kaspar, and Brooklyn Smith; and special friends Lyn Jenkins and Doris Stuehler.
A funeral service was Oct. 27 at Kingsland Community Church with the Revs. Dick West and Jim Rose officiating. Interment followed at Llano City Cemetery in Llano.
