Naomi Dian Fletcher Bowers, born Dec. 1, 1922, in Des Moines, Iowa, passed away Dec. 19, 2014, in Austin, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Bowers.

She is survived by two daughters, Shelia Cormier and Sharon May; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was an active participant in her community, from Iowa to California to Georgia and, finally, to Texas. She became an licensed vocational nurse in her 50s because she liked to help people. She was a member of the League of Women Voters and the Democratic Women of Texas. She served on the first Silver-Haired Legislature in Texas from 1986-87. She was a founding member of the Marble Falls Senior Activity Center. She also was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

She was a strong woman who lived life her way and to the fullest. She made lifelong friends wherever she went and was still in touch with people in California to New York, Florida, Iowa, South Dakota, Oklahoma and Texas. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service is 1 p.m. Dec. 29 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Marble Falls.

Arrangements by Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373. Go to www.clementswilcoxfuneralhome.com to offer condolences.
