Janis Brown, 53, of Spicewood died Dec. 29, 2014. She was born March 6, 1961, in Pasadena, California, to Donna and Harold Jones.
Janis moved to Texas in 1992 and became a longtime resident.
She was the youngest of six brothers and sisters. She worked in the medical-care field as a patient care provider with the Heart Hospital of Austin for many years before retiring due to complications from lupus.
Janis loved her dogs and enjoyed knitting, quilting and sewing. She became a certified EMT and spent many years volunteering with the Spicewood Fire Department.
Janis is survived by her husband, Tommy Brown; children, Katherine and Zya; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service is 2:30 p.m. Jan. 10 at Spicewood Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lupus Foundation of America.
