Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Dolores “Dee” Gordon, 87, of Lubbock from 7-9 p.m. Jan. 14 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A service is 4 p.m. Jan. 15 at Bacon Heights Baptist Church. Cremation arrangements by Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers.

Dolores was born on Dec. 22, 1927, to Cleburn and Ruby (Dunn) Lyda in Lubbock. She graduated from New Deal High School, and, on March 18, 1946, she married Jim W. Gordon.
Dolores worked in the accounting department for Southwestern Bell for 25 years. She and Jim lived in Marble Falls, Texas, for 38 years and were members of First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir.
Dolores also was a very talented artist. She taught art for many years and was a member of the Highland Arts Guild in Marble Falls.
Dolores moved back to Lubbock in 2011 to be close to family. She was a member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church, the Herbert Bergstrom Sunday school class and the church choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother Gerriel Lyda.
Survivors include daughter, Derlyn Gordon (Ray Brown) of Lubbock; three sons, Barry Gordon of Lubbock, Sammie Gordon (Rhonda) of Corpus Christi and Jim Gordon (Karen) Clarkston, Washington; six grandchildren, Michele Samuelson (Michael), Dustin Gordon, Jason Gordon (Ashleigh), Eric Gordon (Nicole), Sam Gordon and Zach Gordon; and three great-grandchildren, Jak Gordon, Makayla Samuelson and Nathan Gordon.
